The Semana Santa in Antigua Guatemala, the Holy Week for the people of Antigua, featured a breathtaking procession on November 2nd, 2024. I was fortunate enough to document most of the event over a 15-hour period, during which members of the Catholic Church took turns carrying the float. Even luckier, I met José, a devoted Catholic who has participated in the entire week’s procession since he was 15 years old. "I do it solely out of a deep sense of devotion," José told me during our interview in the hotel hallway. This is a submission for AOD’s One Day DOC. All footage was filmed within a 24-hour period.
